I am a Pacific Northwest native transplanted to the southeast for 36 years. In 2012, I returned to my childhood home and fell in love with this corner of the country again. I am a grandmother, a storywriter, a teacher, an attention payer, a hiker, and a back roads wanderer. Check out my website (and my memoir) at www.gretchenstaebler.com. Ahhhh…you have a baby! My husband and I were just remarking how we’ve not seen as many deer this spring as we usually do. Oftentimes we’re treated to twins (which are adorable until they decide to taste every flower in my flower beds).

We had two babies and three mamas last year. Or maybe it was the other way around. The five were here all year. But suddenly these two are the only ones I’ve seen recently. I have two words for you, or maybe it’s one: Repels All. Works. We have an influx of rabbits. The neighbor thinks because her cat died. I haven’t seen ANY for the four Summer’s I’ve been here. This year they are everywhere.
