I am a Pacific Northwest native transplanted to the southeast for 36 years. In 2012, I returned to my childhood home and fell in love with this corner of the country again. I am a grandmother, a storywriter, a teacher, an attention payer, a hiker, and a back roads wanderer. Check out my website (and my memoir) at www.gretchenstaebler.com.

Spring has barely sprung here. Last week’s temperatures in the teens really hit the blossoming trees hard. We’ll see if they have a second growth spurt in them.

Colorado is going to start very small businesses up again on Monday. No place I really want to go–my hair can just keep growing and I’m really excited about going platinum.

Platinum is good! Washington’s stay home was extended indefinitely yesterday. I’m so glad I live here. Hopefully the trails will open soon; that’s all I personally care about. I do hope very small businesses will open soon, for their sakes.

We’ve been ordering pickup or delivery from restaurants as our Sunday treat. So far, we’re healthy anyway. Thank goodness the spring weather is coming–Easter was so gray and snowy. The snow was so heavy it crushed all of the tulips and daffodils. They have kept the hiking trails open but keep warning people to wear masks and do social distancing but they are very crowded.
