I am a Pacific Northwest native transplanted to the southeast for 36 years. In 2012, I returned to my childhood home and fell in love with this corner of the country again. I am a grandmother, a storywriter, a teacher, an attention payer, a hiker, and a back roads wanderer. Check out my website (and my memoir) at www.gretchenstaebler.com.

He is. I think he will miss being here. He’s also adaptable though.

Thank you. I’ve so down about the events here in Boulder. But the look on his face has freed me. Long live children!

So very sad, Jo. I am thinking of you and this (yet another) horrific event every minute. I will miss this delighted face when I don’t see it for hours every week.

It’s like a picture book, the story slowly unfolding. What an adorable, inquisitive child. What happened next ?

I have completely fallen in love with this child these past months. He watched them race off and jump over the fence and into the neighbor’s orchard.
