I am a Pacific Northwest native transplanted to the southeast for 36 years. In 2012, I returned to my childhood home and fell in love with this corner of the country again. I am a grandmother, a storywriter, a teacher, an attention payer, a hiker, and a back roads wanderer. Check out my website (and my memoir) at www.gretchenstaebler.com.

There is much to be disgusted over! It’s but a passing fancy. I shudder to think what I ingested as a child.

Sand, candy cigarettes, canned asparagus . . . Or, much to my mother’s later chagrin, Gerber’s chocolate pudding. Haha. I have never liked gummy candy, though.

Lovely. I can feel the anticipation of long warm careless days of exploring and eating ice cream!

Haha. Ice cream, yes! But I have personal issues with frozen yogurt with gummy worms and such in containers that are intentionally deceptively large and then costs $15 for two servings. I need to just be happy I made them happy.

Pride, sunshine and two curious, energetic boys. Sounds (and looks) like a great start to summer.

Yesterday was great! Today there was no sunshine, and we were all a little out of sorts about it. But we have individual Camp Gigi’s on the calendar, and I am excited to have them one-on-one for the first time.
